Georges Iscovescu is a Romanian-born gigolo who arrives at a Mexican border town seeking entry to the United States. Faced with an 8-year waiting period, Georges is encouraged by his former dancing partner to marry an American and abandon her once safely across the border. He targets school teacher Emmy Brown, but his plan is derailed by an immigration officer and his blossoming feelings for Emmy.
