Drifter cowhand Lin Sloane is obsessed with capturing Black Velvet, a wild stallion running rampant across the range. Sloane falls in love with Lucy Bostel, daughter of the region's most influential horse breeder. Conflicts arise when Lucy intends to race the captured stallion, much to the dismay of her father.
