Victory in the Pacific
Nonfiction • TV-14 • Directed by: World War II: The Epic Saga • 58 minutes
In 1941, the bombing of Pearl Harbor drew the United States into a long and bitter conflict with the Empire of Japan as part of the Second World War. During two years of watching bitter European battles fought between the Allies and Germany as Adolf Hitler stormed into neighboring countries, the Americans had maintained their neutrality, despite President Roosevelt doing all he could to help the Allied cause. However, as the Japanese, Hitler's partners in the Axis powers, made a direct attack on the U.S. Naval fleet, the Americans were forced to take up arms, and began to ship their troops far across the Pacific to face a distant and unpredictable enemy.
