It's been said that wars have the ability to speed up the process of history. We only have to look at the two world wars of the 20th century to find the necessary evidence to prove that this is indeed the case. The First World War, fought between 1914 and '18, was described as the war to end all wars. But as the process of history attests, sadly, was not the case. Consequently, when the issues of reparation and redistribution of land came to a head within 20 years of an armistice being signed, matters accelerated at an alarming speed after the formal declaration of war against Adolf Hitler's Germany on the Third of September, 1939, The Second World War is without doubt a huge topic to cover.
